Not quite as powerful hardware as that of @jomiran@lemmy.ml , but it works: I feel ever so slightly less depressed during the darker seasons. Mind you, winter is coming. I know the difference in white balance looks terrible, but somehow my body doesn’t mind.

The lights are so light - pun astronomically intended - that I was able to use tape to slap them onto the wall. No drilling.

    BEHOLD - the male habitat!

Functional. Minimalistic. It’s cold hard embrace warmed only by two 2500k lamps that feebly mimic the light of the world outside.

Surrender! Surrender to its glory, it’s brutalist styling, knowing that no person of the opposite sex has ever intruded into this safe space.

While I value your enthusiasm, I really prefer not to be associated with traditional male norms and traditions. 😅 I’m currently at war with myself, trying to embrace at the very least a gender neutral expression, but I absolutely see what you mean. You should see my storage space. I can tell you, there isn’t much in it. 🤣 GOD I love minimalism.

The right light is so important in months of dakness!

If i maay suggest: I think something on the walls (like pictures, paintings, shelves or shaded lamps/lights) and some plants would also help cheer up the space and lift your mood.

Perhaps combine them into shelves of plants (will require drilling, but easier to vacuum under shelves than around plants on the floor). Or go for one or two massive wallcovering floor-to-ceiling shrubs/plants for less watering.

Thanks! I really appreciate the suggestions! 🥰 I’m just so unhealthily (is that even a word? 🤣) attached to minimalism, I don’t dare to embellish.😱

Edit: although I have thought about those Polish Displate “posters” 😍

I’m not sure what minimalism even means…? Haha. My version of “minimalism” is just “must be easy to clean and hide away”, so I don’t keep trinkets or knick-knacks, and have solid doors on all cabinets and bookcases, and avoid flowering plants. But evergreen and leafy greens are fine by me! As long as I water them when they begin to droop they basically never drop any leaves.

Be brave, dare to dream! Think of a plant (or plant shelf) not as a mere material possession but as a cross between a favourite figurine and a pet; a living necessity. You can even find plants with more muted silvery-green leaves, or deeply dark green if you don’t want a massive pop of colour.

And if you don’t like it you can always toss it or give it away, unlike a pet or favorite figurine.

I was trying to figure out why you blurred something behind the couch. Then realized it was small and human shaped, and I think I have solved the case.
