I totally understand putting a “date of opening” on condiments or stuff that sticks around in my fridge for weeks-months but what size is your dog and how much wet dog food do you feed it a day that you need to date that can? How long does a can that size stay around?
My dog is 35lbs, and eats about a can and a half a day, so I don’t feed him a whole can at once because it’s too much for him in one sitting. So, I save the leftover 1/3-1/4 can until the next meal, or the next day, or so; two days tops. If you don’t date the cans, you might overlook one at one point, and then if you go to use it, you have no idea how old it is. Same principle for dating any leftovers in the fridge.
