So one time I unlocked my mom’s car with the remote from inside the house. I took a little while to leave though and the car has an automatic thing where it automatically locks again if left for a few minutes.

When I finally got to the car and pulled the door open, the relock triggered literally as I was halfway through opening the door. So it was kept half closed. Kinda like when you close it but don’t put enough force into it? Hard to explain. Anyway I felt like I was being pranked.

That’s the most braindead feature on a vehicle and annoys me so much. If I unlock it, that means I want it unlocked. Please don’t do the opposite of what I want to do or do what I want for only a minute. Pisses me off.

No, the most brain dead feature is on my fucking volkawagen ID4.

It automatically unlocks when you approach with the fob. Then if you just pass by to go for a walk and don’t interact with it at all, it doesn’t re-lock again and you can see the lock status remotely, but can’t lock it…

      Absolute garbage design by VW.

My mom got locked out of a rental car and had to pay a tow driver to break in because of this stupid feature.

Went grocery shopping, unlocked the car, dropped her purse with the keys inside and went to load the trunk. Car locked itself while she was loading.

You can turn it off in every car I’ve ever used. I guess making it default is questionable, but modern cars make it painfully difficult to lock yourself out so it makes sense imnho.
