Almost panicked thinking it was a busted water pipe (but confused because to my knowledge there is no pipe in those walls), but it turns out I hadn’t fully sealed a crushed water bottle and that was what was making the noise.

So almost not a dull start to today. But dull after all. 😅

The bubbles in a glass of coke have had me pacing about a room looking for a noise, many a time.

Few things are more frightening than the sound of a leaking pipe 😨 . Glad it was just a false alarm!

To be honest, I might find the leaking pipe more terrifying. The gushing pipe would do more immediate damage but it would be immediately noticable, where the leaking pipe could leak for months or years before there are external signs of damage. Then you rip off the wall and find tons of mold.

I may have been traumatized from slow leaks…

I had that happen at my last house. I accidentally drilled into the upstairs plumbing return pipe, and didn’t know it until the drywall started to collapse and show signs of black mold. 🫣

Exit: conversely, my water heater pipe sprung a leak (gushing if you count spraying water) underneath my current house and I didn’t hear or notice it until months later when I had a fiber installer tell me he wouldn’t do the work due to the mold.

good point, i had my share of both types, including the “there is water damage but not clear were is coming from” kind

There’s a particular bottle design that makes the weirdest noises - Minute Maid juice with the 3-4 in wide lids. It can happen from squeezing the bottle and shutting it, or if you take it out of the fridge and it slowly warms up. Strange noises… it can sound like a steady hiss or a strangely rhythmic one.
