I have been a Tolkien fan since I first saw The Fellowship of the Ring in the movie theaters. I have since read The Silmarillion , Hobbit and The Children of Húrin and am about to start reading Unfinished Tales.
I perceive my existence as mundane, dull and I have fallen into some sort of nihilistic maelstrom of the heart.
But then, out of the blue, one of my siblings slaps this short comic in my face and makes my day. I already knew the words by heart and often sing the song as arranged by Clamavi de Profundis, so you can imagine how stoked I was to read this:
A short comic depicting Durin’s awakening in Mount Gundabad, his travels southwards through the Misty Mountains, his discovery of Kheled-Zâram - the Mirrormere - and the founding of Khazad-dûm, the first home of the dwarves.
These small pieces of happiness mean a lot in a mundane existence.
Not dull at all!
But thank you for sharing it! I also adore Durin’s song and the comic does it justice!
Only thing I didn’t understand is the symbology of the earth he keeps in his cave and also puts on the leafs on the water. Is that supposed to be an oracle?
Hi! Yeah, I know, I didn’t quite know where else to post it. xD
I was also curious as to what the leaves and the pieces of earth symbolize. I suppose the creator took some artistic liberty there.
