Louder bird sounds than I have ever heard before, though that could just be a factor of my own proximity to the bush and how many birds were congregated at the bush. I stopped and put my glasses on to look, but by then most had flown away.

Yeah! I once walked by one of those a couple years ago. There was a light rain, and all the birds in the world had gathered in this one bush just off the sidewalk and were chirping like they were having the best party in the world! I stood and listened and really wanted to join them but I figured if I tried to get into the bush they’d all fly away. Maybe I coulda slowly sneaked my way down at the bottom but then I’da probably just got covered with bird droppings. And anyway I didn’t know the right way to chirp. With a sigh and one last forlorn look, I slowly trudged away.

A few weeks ago I heard the first birds since autumn. Winter is a pretty quiet period for birds, so there’s not much to listen to. However, now the earliest birds have returned. No worms for them though unless they can dig through snow and ice.
